Morgan's Birth Story

On August 16th, sweet Morgan was born. I am so grateful to have been there to document the labor and delivery. What makes this even more special to me was that a year and three days before (well, 2.5 days, since Miss Morgan was born at 4 am), I photographed Morgan's parents getting married. Being a part of these huge life events is such an honor and really the best part of my "job".

Kim had a long day, I arrived around 9:30 pm, she had already been in the hospital since early that morning.  She was tired. She was brave. She was strong. She was nothing short of amazing. The strength of a woman giving birth is a powerful thing.   She used every ounce of herself and just when she thought she couldn't go any more, Morgan was there, then in her arms.  Simply amazing. Morgan came into the world with the most gorgeous dark hair, I was in awe of how beautiful this baby was. She needed just a little help breathing and shortly after birth she was taken to the NCIU, she is completely okay and healthy.

Oh, and the love between Kim and Caleb, it's magic. It really is. Caleb was so attentive to Kim.  So concerned, calm, supportive and strong. He is going to be one super father.

Caleb and Kim did not find out if they were having a boy or girl, (yay for surprises!!!) Kim's toes and fingers were painted with equal fingers/toes blue and pink, to not show favor to either sex.  I loved it.

I knew photographing a birth would be emotional, but I really had no idea how much it would affect me. This was the first birth I witnessed, besides my own children.  I left feeling so inspired, grateful and proud of Kim and Caleb. I lost it when I got into my car after leaving the hospital!! Thank you so much Kim and Caleb for letting me share the most special moments of your life. I am truly honored. You both are going to amazing parents. Morgan is going to be so loved. I'm excited to watch your little girl grow!
